AND SO FROM LITTLE GRAINS ……

we have reached

£100,000

.

The Bale Push started in 2000, from a need to do some village fundraising as suggested by Malcolm Kitts and a number of ideas were discussed. Chris Eustice continued to discuss the dilemma with locals at the Treguth Inn where Gavin Gough suggested pushing the bales around an obstacle in a field. Chris then discussed the idea with John Richards and within two days the first test run was undertaken with Malcolm Kitts, John Richards, Jon Mills and Tim Eustice in the team! Chris Eustice as mobile marshall assisted by a flag waving Jim Hardy [then Landlord of Old Albion] keeping the traffic at bay and warning unsuspecting pedestrians that the bale was en route!. With the test run complete they set about organising the very first event and three weeks later the first Bale Push took place. ………………..………………...
In essence the event has changed very little - although over the years we have added children’s events and separated the adult races into Ladies, Open and 180’s, we have the iconic Bale Man [and sometimes a Bayly Bale Dog too!] who brings a smile to so many faces especially in late August as he makes his way to the Crantock turn off. We have a website and Facebook Page with followers from all over the UK and even abroad. Our event has been copied but never surpassed. ………………………………..
We have supported over 60 local charities and organisations donating £100,000 and hopefully making a difference to those who need it. The selection of the charities to support is never an easy task but we all have the view that money raised in Cornwall should stay in Cornwall.…………………………………………
We are never complacent about how much we have raised over the years and cannot adequately express our thanks to the 100’s of businesses and individuals who have over the years advertised in our Bale Push Magazine [we have many of the originals still with us!], the businesses and individuals who have sponsored the event in goods and deed, to the Committee members old and new who give their time and expertise without reward, to our helpers, to the Crantock residents who put up with us every year!

THANK YOU TO YOU ALL
